Report on County Council Matters to North Nibley Parish Council

7th January 2019

County Council Budget for 2019/2020

The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday 19th December included agreeing the detailed draft budget for the coming year prior. Public consultation on this started on 20th December and runs until 17:00 on 21st January.

The draft budget totals £428.356 million and is based on a 2.99% Council Tax increase. In addition, there is the final year of the ‘social care precept’ which allows the Council to increase council tax levels by up to a further 2% specifically to fund Adult Social Care. This 2% social care precept raises an additional £5.6 million for Adult Social Care services.

This proposed budget will result in a Band D GCC Council Tax precept of £1,293.69 in 2019/20 compared to £1,232.21 in 2018/19 – an increase of £61.48 per annum, or 4.99%.

Full details of the budget proposals can be found at www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/mtfs  (which in fact includes the entire December Cabinet agenda!) and responses can be made electronically on the GCC website.

The final proposed budget will be debated by the County Council on 13th February and agreed, subject to any successful amendments on the day.
